About Skarbi
Skarbi is an iPhone app for catching gift ideas the moment they appear and still having them when the occasion arrives. It is made by one person, in the open, and this page says who and why.
The problem it was built for
The hard part of gift-giving is not choosing a present. It is that the idea arrived in March and the occasion is in December. Somebody mentions offhand that their headphones keep dying, and nine months later you are standing in a shop with no memory of it.
Almost every wishlist tool solves the last mile — the list, the share, the reservation. Very few solve the first one: catching the idea in the two seconds you have before it disappears. Skarbi is built around that first step, and the list-making follows from it rather than the other way round.
Who makes it
Skarbi is built by Volodymyr Pavlenko, an iOS developer, and it is the only product. There is no team page because there is no team. The upside of that is directness: the person who wrote the sync code is the person who answers [email protected].
The blog comes out of the same work. Competitor comparisons there are checked against each product's own documentation and carry the date they were verified, and they name what those tools do better — Skarbi does not win on every axis and the writing says so. Statistics carry their source and date inline so you can check them rather than take them on faith. Where a claim has not been confirmed by hands-on use, it says so.
How it works, in one paragraph
You sign in with Apple or Google when you first open the app — that is the last step of onboarding, before any planning starts. From then on your ideas and wishlists live on your device by default. When a list is ready, you share one public link. Whoever receives it opens it in a browser and reserves a gift without an account and without installing anything, and what they reserved stays hidden from the person the list is for.
What Skarbi is not
- Not on Android or the web. Planning is iPhone-only, and there is no Android version on the roadmap to promise you. Shared wishlist links, though, open anywhere.
- Not a store. Skarbi does not sell anything, take affiliate commission on gifts, or rank products for you.
- Not a social network. There is no feed, no follower graph, and no public profile.
- Not free of charge forever at any size. The free tier is a real tier, not a trial — 3 people or spaces, 3 active wishlists, 1 shared wishlist. Pro removes those limits.
